Advertising, Sales and Marketing
There was life before the internet. And I was there. After graduating college in the Okanagan and kicking around Vancouver for a while, I started a career in advertising in Toronto. I spent three years working in media and promotion planning.
Following a move to England I worked in lead generation and direct sales. I traveled the countryside saving businesses money and fighting the man on their behalf.
A series of moves across the United States saw me doing a variety of event marketing gigs.
Once settled in New Hampshire I spent time as both a pricing analyst and a marketing account executive for B2B products.
Internet Marketing and SEO
Around 2002 I decided to get into the internet. I took a year to learn how to code websites. HTML was pretty primitive in those days and so were the websites.
After building a few websites for clients, I joined a small online company and began managing their online and offline marketing.
Online marketing initiatives included website design, search engine optimization, affiliate program management, pay per click advertising and email marketing, etc.
Since then I have continued to create websites and provide internet marketing services to individuals, businesses, as well as non-profit and religious organizations.
Clients and Industries
I have worked in a wide variety of industries. And not all of my jobs were marketing positions so I have a broader understanding of business than you would expect.
I have gained experience in retail, the food & beverage industry, educational and personal development services, manufacturing, financial services, software development, architecture and real estate development.
Some past clients and employers include: Shoppers Drug Mart, P&G, Aavid Thermalloy, RehabCare, Intel, Dell and a bunch you never heard of. But chances are I already know a bit about your business and its needs.
Technology and Skills
Technology is ever changing and evolving on the internet. I have used whatever the flavour of the moment was in coding and programs.
Today, I use WordPress as a content management system for your website. WordPress consists of a theme, plugins and your content. These three items create your website.
If you need something a little more heavy duty then we can always use Drupal to create your website. I can also use Drupal or any of the shopping cart programs such as Shopify or Volusion.
I use a variety of third-party tools to manage SEO programs, analyze website traffic and visitor behavior. In addition, I use the major vendors of domain registration, website hosting, email marketing, etc.
